Blackout Poetry
Black is the colour
Of my favorite going out dress
I feel like poetry, twirling
It uses all my energy, im ready
Im existing for this dance
Text to text
My phone, as a canvas
To create new stories
Here are some of the blackout poems created by our young writers this week.
Curtains forcing their will
against the wind,
children sleep,
exchanging dreams with
seraphim. The city
drags itself awake on
subway straps; and
I, an alarm, awake as a
rumor of war,
lie stretching into dawn,
unasked and unheeded.
THIS IS NO LONGER A BLOG!
THIS IS THE ABOLITION OF ALL LOGIC!
THIS IS WORDS PULLED FROM NEWSPAPERS AT RANDOM!
THIS IS THE PRODUCT OF SPONTANEITY!
THIS IS DADA!
DADA!
A very brief history of Dada:
Towards the end of WW1 artist Hugo Ball decided that if logic can lead to war then art should abandon all logic. Thus, dada was born. It’s random, chaotic, it’s nothing, it’s everything, it’s punk.
11-15 Group Dada poem:
Greatness is only temporary.
DADA!
Wolfgang Amedeus Motzart.
DADA!
Hello.
DADA!
Logic is as good as dead.
DADA!
The world is flat.
DADA!
Hello.
DADA!
Question?
DADA!
Help me pack my suitcase!
DADA!
15-28 group Dada Punk/Bowie Inspired song
They are moving heaven
and yet in victory he demonstrated
Separated by thousands of miles
Free Ukraine
Even as the bombs continue to fall
Have you?
Structural steel.
It is time for creative thinking.
You can do it!
While we waited…and waited
The new zebra crossing
Made after his victory
NEIL’S QUALIFIED TREE GARDEN SERVICE
Suction tubing and chest drainage
Mine
As a big fat
Looms
Hungry
Tower
Gardeners are embracing wilder lawns
Leave the lawnmower in the shed for May and mow less
To create a mosaic of habits
Bloom as never before
Plants that like shorter grass
Surrendered
So many balloons for sale
EVERYBODY
Mine
As a big fat
Looms
Hungry
Tower
Bring back the fairy lights
Offensive on the home front
It’s going to be a fantastic feeling
pre -existing medical condition
Totally hard
Head Gardener
HOLLY WILLOUGHBY
Rated excellent
STUNNING VALUE!
But ultimately champion
One of them will be crowned
Normally it takes years
People keep going, be brilliant
Suddenly and horribly
The pressure of the competition
SOFTWARE FRETSAW
Classic pendulous amethyst
Mine
As a big fat
Looms
Hungry
Tower
Maximize the glazing
They can be omitted
Long term work in progress
Get precise control over every room
Mine
As a big fat
Looms
Hungry
Tower

The blog has been a little different this week, but this week's session has also been a little different, a little louder and a little more rebellious. Today our young writers learnt that their writing can be loud, punky and incoherent. Meaningful, meaningless or nothing at all.
