Acceptance

ACCEPTANCE

Sad things can't be explained
you said
because you know it's
all about acceptance
and you fear that
with your salty tears and
your stuttering speech and
your snotty nose, acceptance
won't show up and you'll
be on the balcony with only
the stars for company and
unable to reach up and see
their beauty, and you'll be
travelling home in your soggy
suede shoes, driving in the
wrong direction. No,
sad things can't be
explained, you said. And so
you laughed, instead.
