Jane Austen & Star Wars

It was a quiet session today, as our writers are doing their exams (good luck writers!)

Ali is leading us for the rest of the term, so we did a ‘getting to know you’ sheet to start! We did a read through of our factfiles to learn everyone’s author influences, ambitions, and favourite biscuits.

We then moved on to a bit of writing, with Ali getting our group to write a few paragraphs about a recent outing/social situation. Then our writers were asked to choose a style to rewrite the piece in (despite there being many options, the only two chosen were “Star Wars” and “Jane Austen”). We got some Stormtroopers writing in their diaries, and meeting back up with a friend in Regency England.

With the final minutes of the group, Ali asked our writers to rewrite the scene in yet another style! We went from Jane Austen to James Bond and Star Wars to Shakespeare, and all our writers had some wonderful ways to edit the genre of their pieces.
