The Island Part 1

What are three dangers on your island?

What are three things a normal person might need to survive on your island?

What are the three best/most exciting parts of the island?

Inspired by the extract from the start of the Lord of the Flies, when Ralph and Piggy are first exploring the island, the young writers wrote descriptions of their islands:

Leo

Throughout the luscious woods and meadows the ground was covered in soft moss, so inviting. Stars sang lullabies and the moon caressed his face while he went on around the island. How could he not, how could Jack pass up this chance, just for a minute he might as well sit down.

The moss was like a silk pillow, delicate and irresistible. Owls hooted from surrounding trees, their branches making a perimeter for a clearing, protecting Jack. Well, now that he was here he might as well, lie down. Stargaze for a bit, no one ever got hurt doing that, and the rescue boat would be here in a while anyway (if it was coming in the first place).

Shadows danced around him, but they must’ve just been a figment of his imagination, after all, it was stargazing. No one ever got hurt doing that.

The past week sure has been eventful but where to start,

It all began crashing a plane into an island, pretty smart.

Before enough I got hungry so off I went to see,

Then before my eyes I saw a growing tree.

Me being curious I looked on the underside and fell 100 feet,

Then some ball of energy stopped me falling into concrete.

I couldn’t believe my eyes looking at this island under an island,

I couldn’t believe what I saw after doing Alice in Wonderland.

The ground was hot but the air was cool with air machines and a giant vent,

And architecture I’d never imagine how these people invent.

But it was silent, no one there and that kinda bothered me,

Who built it? Where are they? I searched but there was nobody.

Then suddenly I found a girl hiding in the afternoon,

She was small but her head and eyes were huge.

As I found er and ambush of thousands came after,

All looked the same, all tech and I was captured.
Long-story-short - huge misunderstanding that I was enemy

But because it is so nice here I decided I’d work for the economy!
