Show me don't tell me - describing stuff!

inspired by this quote

"Don't tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass" - Anton Chekhov

We set about 'showing' our readers and listeners.

Here's a response to an a 'quick writes' exercise where we re-wrote the following sentence with this aim in mind.

Rewrite - 'The man became angry'

He swung his head round. Like a runner reacting to the sound of a starting pistol at the beginning of a race, he became consumed by an autopilot response to the hooting he had heard.

"who's that beeping me?

I'll show. 'em"

All he could see were backed up cars - nose to nose in all directions. He turned the other way - red faced, hands gripped, white knuckled by more blank faced drivers. He scrutinised each face but couldn't detect the reaction he was looking for.

Then he realised that whoever had hooted may not have been hooting at him. The anger subsided as quickly as it had arisen.
