Why Write?!
At the start of every term, and for every new writer that wins us along the way I always have a simple form to complete, it asks questions about writing, and wellbeing. It also asks what you'd like to get out of the group... here's a little selection that I think really respond to ideas around 'why we write', and absolutely reflect the many reasons people join a creative group for both artistic and wellbeing outcomes.
- to get out of the house and stop isolating
- keep my pen hand moving
- to learn
- To meet new people and grow as a person
- writing for recovery, and pleasure
- discover where I can go with my poetry
- to write something I can be proud of
- to get a certificate when I finish
- to see how creative I truly am
- to build confidence and social skills
- to stay committed to something
