Yesterday

Today the group looked at the song Yesterday, by the Beatles. It's a great example of using structure to create tension. We played with images to represent 'yesterday' and 'today' to see what story might suggest itself, and then let our pens go for a wander.

Here is Sue's mash-up of The Beatles' classic;

Yesterday

Love was such an easy game. I went to Winton and got my new glasses which I had been waiting for, which was good.

Today I woke up, got washed and dressed, and looked out of the window. It was pouring. I put on my rain gear, got on my scooter and went to the lift, came out of the lift, got to the front door, and my scooter decided to conk out on me.

What else can go wrong? I thought.

Suddenly I'm not half the woman I used to be. Why he had to go I don't know. I was left broken hearted.

I believe in yesterday. Love was such an easy game to play. Now I need a place to hide. Why he had to go I don't know. Did I say something wrong? I should have ran after him.

Come back, come back! I love you!

He did stop. I thought, ‘Oh good, he is coming back to me. ‘ Then he turned and went away for good, and I broke my heart.
