A warm welcome back to our Junior Writers – Lottie and I were excited to be
back and pleased to see familiar and new faces in our online group on Thursday.
Our focus this week was on creating links in our writing and
with the help of a selection of icon picture prompts the group were given 5
minutes to link the pictures and asked to write a sentence or short story using all the
images on each slide.
Lottie then challenged us to create a fantastical group
story in the chat where we could all randomly add a sentence to the story as
long as it started with the words ‘And then …’
Our story began with a cat pouncing on the grass and then... a
cat and mouse chase and then... a mouse and cat chase, before elephants and
butterflies appeared (with a cameo from Kym riding an elephant wearing a cowboy
hat with a butterfly!). We finished with a happily ever after ending with everyone wearing
multiple sunglasses dancing at a disco to pink pony club.
The session finished with writers creating a story
incorporating as many random phrases and sentences as possible, with the group weaving
some wonderfully creative tales.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next week :)
