Junior & Young Writers Week 4: The Magic of Stories - Haunted Edition

Once again using the magnificent story cards - this time, the haunted edition - Claire set the groups the task of creating spooky stories using three chosen cards from the set.

The first card inspired the beginning of the story, the second helped shape the middle, and the final card brought the story to its conclusion. With all three cards combined, the results ranged from genuinely creepy to wonderfully comedic.

*The Endless Fog, desperately trying to find someone worthy of a proper scare, stumbled across a tacky haunted house inhabited by an even tackier vampire.

*Bob (the one and only), accompanied by his suspicious dog, explored a haunted house and discovered a blood-covered axe. Fortunately, a nearby smashed ketchup bottle revealed it wasn’t blood after all. Bob later encountered a headless horseman who turned out to be an estate agent, and after running into several runaway eyeballs, was relieved to realise he had actually wandered onto a film set.

*Fed up with the Dracula stereotype, one vampire set out to prove everyone wrong - by entering the Eurovision Song Contest.

*Another story created a vivid, eerie atmosphere with a man snipping away with pliers at odd hours, accompanied by the constant sound of “snip, snip, snip” echoing through the dark hallways.

Lastly, using only the writing on the back of the cards as inspiration, the groups illustrated their interpretations on paper plates. Both groups proved that their creativity extends far beyond writing alone, showing just as much skill and imagination through their artwork.
