From Seas to Bees

The focus of our creative work shifted this session. As Ali finished gathering the Brevity submissions, we talked about the fact that there is a wild bee colony on the side of the MAST. When relocating with a new queen bees are often docile and unlikely to sting, so Ali had our writers pen a story about an encounter with some bees. We had protagonists getting their faces harvested when sticking their heads inside a hive, and grumpy old men fending off a bee attack by complimenting the swarm.

We did a quick exercise where Ali asked our writers to answer the following questions: one thing you like, one thing you hate, and one warning a friend would give about you. This served as an introduction too, as we had a new writer with us!

We finished on a Frankenstory! Many of the finished stories had protagonists ending up being shot, but also being attacked with baguettes for failing to complete pushups.

The Brevity issue is on the horizon, and we’re so excited to see it in print! A huge well done to our writers who have submitted some truly wonderful pieces.
