New Term Ahoy!

We’re back! This term we have a particularly nautical theme, as our group is working towards putting some ocean-centric writing into a copy of Brevity, a zine printed on the Isle of Wight! This is sure to be a really fun, exciting project, and will give our writers something tangible to take home with them.

We started with a fill-in fun, and were filled with oceanic tales of subaquatic Stephen Mulherns, people stuck as castaways since they were toddlers, and island-mountain dwelling cannibals.

Ali had our writers discuss their opinion of the sea. Most were generally in favour of it, though some of them had previous scary experiences with rough ocean storms and capsizing kayaks. Thematically, Ali had brought her oceanic box of wonder, where everyone had to pull out a sea-based prompt and write a story. Our writers gave us tales of people being cut off by the tide for the first time and a protagonist dodging pursuers on a boat, but our writer of the week was Mia with her story in the form of a message in a bottle from a stranded paddleboarder!
