The Sound of Silence

We began the session in silence.

Ali has prepared special lip seals (see photo below)

Ali then gave silent instructions - passing each person a note that read 'you may pass a note about your week to the person on your left' ' they may reply but only to the right'

One of these notes read 'as bored as a caterpillar in a cocoon doing maths'

For our next silent warm-up, we played charades, which was great fun!

The last silent task was to write a story wherein the main character was mute or couldn't speak. This sent us in lots of directions.

Keiran wrote 'the blind hero' where his main character couldn't talk, so instead got his sword to do the talking.

Hibah and Subhan wrote about the end of the world.

And Jevan wrote about a mute boy who could tell the future.

Isla wrote about a daughter who discovers her parents are planning a mass murder, but she doesn't know how to tell anyone or stop them!

The silence gave us room for our imaginations to run wild.
