News and Opportunities for Writers and Writing
ArtfulScribe is grateful to acknowledge funding from Arts Council England to support our vision for literature development in Dorset, working with partners including Poole Museum Service, Bournemouth University, Arts University Bournemouth, BCP Libraries and Lighthouse Poole. Doing All Write is a multi-strand two-year creative writing programme for Dorset offering workshops, performances, publications, residencies & support for writers.
ARTS AND HUMANITIES FESTIVAL
Workshop Offers - 20 November
As part of the University of Southampton Arts and Humanities Festival, ArtfulScribe is offering free workshops on Saturday 20th November at Avenue Campus, Highfield. To find out more, please visit the links below:
11am-1pm: Young Writers - Reworlding and Rewilding (suitable for age 7+)
2-4pm: Writing for Recovery - Responding to Loss and Grief (suitable for age 16+)

 
LEAD FACILITATOR ROLE

ArtfulScribe is looking to appoint a versatile writer/facilitator to lead Lighthouse Young Writers. Weekly term-time sessions will take place at Lighthouse Poole on Saturday mornings from January 2022. These sessions will be split to accommodate age groups 11-14 years and 15-18 years.
The Lead Facilitator will be capable of planning sessions that inspire, motivate, and develop young writers through engagement with Lighthouse’s seasonal programme and through interaction with other cultural events and venues in the region.

The writer/facilitator will be supported by a project manager and will work alongside an assistant who will provide administration, evaluation, and marketing support.

EARLY-CAREER FICTION WRITER AWARD
CLIMATE CHANGE YOUTH THEATRE PROJECT

Are you an England-based fiction writer aged 18+ at the beginning of your career? Submissions are open for the Laura Kinsella fellowship, set up to support writers experiencing limiting circumstances, or whose voices are underrepresented in mainstream literary fiction. One writer will receive a cash prize and a bespoke programme of support delivered by National Centre for Writing. This unique opportunity open to 14-21 yr olds is a collaboration between LifeLab (University of Southampton) and local theatre company Theatre for Life, exploring the impact of climate change across three outdoor locations: New Forest National Park, Weston Shore beach, and the City of Southampton. The offer begins with science workshops and moves into devising & rehearsal next year. Find out more here.
