ArtfulScribe appoints Bridget Floyer as new Executive Director

ArtfulScribe is delighted to announce the appointment of Bridget Floyer as Executive Director. Since March 2024, Bridget has supported the organisation’s development and growth in an associative role, updating and enhancing financial and strategic frameworks, policies, and producing festivals and events. Bridget has also worked within a number of cultural settings in the Solent Region, including OperaUpClose as Executive Producer (maternity cover), and Hampshire Cultural Trust, where she served as Artistic Director for the Trust’s arts centres.

Matthew West, ArtfulScribe’s Artistic Director and founder, says: ‘It’s a great pleasure to welcome Bridget to the team. With over twenty years’ experience in the creative industries, Bridget brings value, integrity and business strategy to support ArtfulScribe’s creative vision and I’m looking forward to the prospect of working together.’

Bridget Floyer says: ‘It’s been a joy to work with Matt West and ArtfulScribe over the past year. Matt’s founding vision to enrich people’s lives through a love of reading and writing is close to my heart, and I’m delighted to be joining this team of brilliant writers and creatives on a permanent basis.’

Bridget joins ArtfulScribe at a key moment in ArtfulScribe’s history, as the company embraces a transition towards becoming a Community Interest Company to better serve the needs of those who engage with company’s activities.

Also joining ArtfulScribe as part of the business restructure, in the role of Non-Executive Director and Facilitator of the organisation’s Advisory Group, is James Gough. James is a leading cultural strategist working across the UK whose work centres around Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and how ‘everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts, and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.’

James Gough says: I’ve known ArtfulScribe since its early days and have long admired Matt and his deep commitment to making writing and creativity something that anyone can access. His passion for supporting unheard voices is infections and I’m honoured to be joining the team at such a pivotal time.

My work is rooted in the belief that culture should be co-created, inclusive and shared – not gatekept. I’m looking forward to helping ArtfuLScribe build on its strong foundations to evolve a sustainable model that deepens its connection with communities and supports creativity as a tool for social and personal transformation.’

Bridget and James take their roles as Sue Sharp and Stephen Sharp step down after more than a decade’s service. We’d like to thank Sue and Steve for their energy and support and wish them well in the future.
