Tongue Fu: How To Play A Poem Like A Song

23 January 2023

7:30-9:00PM

ArtulScribe presents the new writing series, 'How to Play a Poem like a Song' with Tongue Fu.

Have you ever wanted to put your poems to music, but not sure where to start? Or maybe you already write to music, but would like to further explore the relationship between the two? Or maybe you've never even considered it but like a challenge?

This is a fun, creative, supportive online workshop that aims to get all participants comfortable with writing and performing with music, not as backing track, but as another voice, a collaborator. Using musical and writing prompts plus listening and performing exercises, this is a series of five workshops, once a month, led by poet, musician and Tongue Fu founder, Chris Redmond.

Tongue Fu is the UK's leading spoken word, music and improvisation show, which has toured from Glastonbury to the Southbank, Dublin to Rio to Capetown, collaborating with a huge range of artists such as Kae Tempest, Akala, Irvine Welsh and Hollie McNish.

The course is open to anyone but particularly welcomes poets/writers in the Solent region, as throughout the course duration there will be a series of Tongue Fu shows, which participants will have the opportunity to attend, with some performance opportunities.

Tickets: £5/£10/£15 with Pay What You Can Afford option available.
