Write a Note A 10 Year Celebration

Celebrate a milestone of 10 years of Write a Note.

Write a Note began in September 2016 at the Notes Café, founded by poet Issa Farrah Kelly. It then moved to the Talking Heads, and later, in September 2018, poet Anita Foxall stepped in as host and has been guiding the event ever since.

Write a Note has seen many homes, and with the help of the community, who helped keep it all going by gathering online every month, sharing words and supporting one another, it even endured the global pandemic. In 2021, ArtfulScribe kindly invited Anita to bring the event back into a face‑to‑face open mic at Mayflower Studios, where it is still thriving after six years.

September has always marked turning points for Write a Note: 10 years since its birth, eight years with Anita as host, and six years at Mayflower Studios.

The event will run from 5pm to 8pm to welcome as many poets and writers as possible. Come and go as you wish, and if you’d like to read, simply speak to Anita on arrival to sign up.
