We are recruiting: Young Writers' Assistant Facilitator

12 September 2019

As part of the SO:Write project, in partnership with Mayflower Theatre, ArtfulScribe delivers creative writing sessions for young people aged 11-14 years and 15-18 years. Led by award-winning fiction writer Susmita Bhattacharya, these groups meet on Saturday mornings during term-time between 9am-10.45am and 11am-1pm respectively.

We're looking for a committed person who's keen on writing and reading to join our team and help Susmita support the young writers during their workshops. It's a great opportunity for someone to gain some skills in workshop delivery, working with young people, working in a theatre-setting and using social media to communicate outcomes from each week's activities. The right person will be familiar with Instagram, Twitter, FB and other social media platforms.

There's also potential to lead future workshop activities, and to take charge of project-specific tasks including planning the end-of-year showcase (event-management) and overseeing the compilation of an anthology (editorial skills). The role will include occasional evening attendance of Mayflower shows, accompanying the cohort of young writers. And, of course, there will be plenty of scope to engage with other ArtfulScribe activities.

While this is a supported learning opportunity, we offer £45 per weekly session to help towards costs.

If you'd like to apply, please send a covering letter outlining any relevant skills, experience, and aspirations to matt@artfulscribe.co.uk. Interviews will take place towards the end of October with an anticipated start date of Saturday 9th November 2019.
