Find out moreArtfulScribe is a literature development agency based in Southampton. Our core focus is to promote writers and writing and to create progressive pathways from grassroots production through to professional performance and publication on stage and in print. We aim to encourage sustainable growth in the Creative Writing and Live Literature sectors by empowering individuals and communities through project-focussed delivery in Hampshire, Dorset, and neighbouring areas. We also broker relationships between organisations and writers, managing Writer in Residence placements and laureateships for clients including Mayflower Theatre, John Hansard Gallery, Southampton City Libraries, Bournemouth Borough Council, Lighthouse Poole and The National Trust.
If you're a beginner, an improver, or looking to enhance your professional career, we'll do what we can to support you. We work with writers from diverse communities and backgrounds, empowering marginalised voices and celebrating everyday stories. We welcome fiction and non-fiction writers of all genres, including diarists, poets, bloggers, playwrights, dramatists, journalists, and novelists. Whatever your form, speciality or ability level, we're here to help you grow.
ArtfulScribe offers a wide range of services aimed at schools, community groups, and writers throughout the south. We design and deliver vibrant and engaging workshop sessions that inspire, motivate and develop writers, encouraging the creation of new work and the refinement of existing practice. Our showcases give local writers a platform to share their work in front of a live audience as well as offering touring opportunities for visiting artists and shows. We also provide career and professional development opportunities, festival curation, and host literature-related events.
